Day at Alnwick Garden, Observational Drawing Practice
I thought I'd make a quick post to document my day at Alnwick Garden. It was great to have the opportunity to take the day off from stressing about work and just draw for fun. I love drawing outside so jumped at this opportunity! I managed to get my portfolio book and 'The Woodster's Second Chance' children's book sent to print a few days ago so that was a huge stress off my shoulders, hopefully they will arrive in time for hand in!
When we arrived we were allocated a slot to go to the poison garden, leaving the rest of the day free to explore. This was great as I had planned to sit on one of the hundreds of swing chairs surrounded by cherry blossoms. It was amazing to see that they were in bloom and we managed to sit and draw there for a while which was so peaceful. In preparation for the MA in September, I need to get more confident in observational drawing so over the summer I want to take more opportunities to draw outside. Whether it's people or landscape drawings, it's all good experience to take inspiration from everyday life. Sitting somewhere like this you're able to observe people interacting with the landscape which would be great life drawing practice.
